It was nice to see the way Malayalam films performed at the national awards this year. It would have been even better if the industry wasn’t plagued by the MACTA fiasco.

For a long time, there were complaints that director Vinayan, who also happens to be the president of MACTA, was running the association with an iron hand. Although that was condemnable, it also served the purpose of once in a while raising its voice against AMMA if the actors played hard-to-get.

When Tulasidas filed a complaint against Dileep, he probably wouldn’t have expected that the controversy could become this ugly. The breakaway faction consists of directors who were always known to favor AMMA. So, in future, if the superstars make the lives of producers and directors miserable, then there wouldn’t be a place to complain. The new organization is going to be called MAMTA!

Talking about MAMTA only reminds us of the other Mamta whom we all know- Mamta Mohandas.

The lovely Mamta Mohandas is now starring in a new film with Madhavan. This one is the remake of the Bollywood film ‘Yes Boss’, which had Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Aditya Pancholi in the lead roles. The film is about a eager young man who is ready to do anything to please his boss- including keeping an eye on the boss’ girlfriend. The problem is- the boss is married already and the wife doesn’t know about the girlfriend.

Eventually, the hero ends up falling in love with the boss’ girlfriend…

Madhavan was busy losing weight for his film with Shruti Haasan. The film got shelved, but Madhavan isn’t complaining about the advantages of losing a few kilos and regaining his gorgeous looks!

Gorgeous= Simran and her little boy!

Simran’s baby boy turned three. How time flies! It seems like only yesterday when she was busy ruling Kollywood as the No 1 actress. She got married, had a kid and is now back. The kid is now three years old and Simran doesn’t look like she’s in a hurry to have another baby. In fact, she is trying hard to get her husband an offer to play the lead role in a Tamil film. We don’t know when that is going to happen, but Simran has her hands full these days.

You really can’t talk about Simran without ending up saying something about ‘Dasavathaaram’, the Kamalhasan film.

Opinion stands mixed about the film’s fate at the box office. There was lot of hype about it. But when it finally made its way, people were more conscious about the things that went wrong with it. Of the ten roles, only two were good. Most of the remaining 8 roles weren’t even relevant. It was ridiculous to see cancer getting cured by a bullet-shot! Quite a few characters were grossly over made-up. Asin was annoying with her high-pitched shrieks.

Anyway, the film is a hit as far as box office is concerned. The film will do wonderful business in Kollywood-crazy Kerala.
