Mamta Mohandas' popularity grows in Telugu

Until now, Mamta Mohandas made headlines in Telugu for all the wrong reasons. Filmmakers would eagerly sign her up for their films but even before they shot the first scene, they'd remove her under one pretext or the other.

Things are slowly changing for the better now.

She won the Filmfare award for best singer recently. She also has a new film. this time around, for a change, she is being brought in as a replacement for another heroine.

Mohanbabu, a veteran actor in Telugu is producing the film. Mamta had only recently worked with him in her previous film. The actor/producer was so impressed by her performance and behavior that he has offered her the lead role in this film. She is now steadily establishing herself as both a singer and actress in Tollywood. Though she continues to look for offers in Tamil, she hasn't been that lucky yet.
