22 years later, still going strong- Vineeth
- 09.07.2008
Vineeth, the classical dance trained actor, is a very happy man these days. After a long break, his new film in Tamil with him as the hero, 'Uliyin Osai' hit the theatres. The current chief minister of Tamilnadu had written the film's screenplay, which is more than a good reason to assure that there will be crowds to watch the film.
"It has been about 22 years since I got into films. I have acted in films in quite a number of languages. Number was never something that I was obsessed with. I was always interested in the character that I'm supposed to play. If the character was good, I'd take it. Frankly, I was not interested in the duration of the role either. Even if it was a small one, if I liked it and if I thought that it was strong enough, I used to accept it.
"It is true that I don't have the hero image in Malayalam and Tamil, but both the film industry and the audience thinks that there are certain roles that only I could play. I always wanted to star in a film that would put to good use my dance talents.
"There was once a time when Malayalam film industry used to make such films, but sadly, the industry is now very obsessed with making only commercial cinema," he says.
