Heroines of 2007
- 31.12.2007
This time around too, Malayalam cine industry saw quite a number of heroines packing their bags to leave its coasts for Tamil and Telugu films.
Nayantara continued her impressive performance in other languages. She has moved far away from all the controversies that surrounded Simbu and her. The entire south India loved her in her two-piece bikini suit appearance in 'Billa'. She has now established herself as a strong contender for the No 1 spot in Telugu.
Bhavana entered Tollywood this season.
Padhmapriya made headlines for some peculiar wrong reasons when the director of her film slapped her for no obvious reason. The entire south Indian film industry united and protested against him for this. It looked even more ridiculous when he claimed that he had hit her because she wasn't able to act. Thanks to all the controversies, the film is now doing well.
Nothing much was heard of from Gopika and others.
Meera Jasmine revived her presence in Malayalam with two big hits- 'Vinodayatra' and 'Orey Kadal'. She is going to play the lead role in Sathyan Andhikaat's new film too.
There were some newcomers too- Parvathy Melton ('Hallo'), the breed of young actresses like Roma, Parvathy and others like Samvritha. Muktha decided to switch to Tamil but is now nowhere. Kaveri made a comeback.
But the year belongs to Kavya Madhavan again!
Just when we thought that she was almost as good as over with Dileep now avoiding her, she bounced back with an excellent screen chemistry with Prithviraj in 'Classmates'. She starred with him again in 'Kangaroo'. She has now lost weight and is making a fabulous relaunch in Tamil too!
She is going to remain unbeatable for quite a long time!
