Years ago, an English film, ‘Analyze This’ was released. It was the story of a notorious gangster who suddenly heads for a nervous breakdown and decides to get some counseling from a psychiatrist. His problem- he is unable to kill anymore! The psychiatrist finds himself in a very tight situation- he cant refuse to treat his gangster patient because he is afraid of retaliation. If he succeeds in treating him, the gangster will start killing again! The comedy film did very well.
‘Bhargavacharitam Moonam Khandam’ is the remake of the comedy. The film starts off very well, but then, after a while, something goes terribly wrong and everything comes crashing down.
Mammooty is Current Bhargavan, a notorious gangster who is feared by all. He loves to dress stylishly, that would explain the leather overalls, coolers and caps. Problem- for sometimes now he starts having anxiety attacks whenever he has to shoot and kill or even beat someone up. That was not something he was happy about. So, he turns up for treatment at Shantaram’s clinic.
Shrinivasan is Shantaram, a globally renowned psychiatrist. He is not comfortable about treating the notorious gangster but is too scared to refuse. So, he starts to avoid and the patient chases him in the hilarious chain of events.
Bhargavan’s enemies come to know about his predicament to kill and decide that it was the right time to settle scores.
How Mammooty recovers from his anxiety attack and deals with his enemies and the fate of the psychiatrist forms the rest of the story.
Shrinivasan did a wonderful job with his previous Hollywood adaptation, ‘Udayanaanu Thaaram’. This time around, he did choose an excellent film but failed to create the magic of the original. The heroines, Padhmapriya and Nikhita have nothing at all to do.
The Good- • Some scenes were funny • Mammooty’s attire
The Bad • Everybody, including the hero, looked so uninterested! • Heroines who made no difference to the story
The Ugly None
Everything could have been a lot better
