  • The Producer - Babu Shahir

Dileep, Gopika

The audience loves to see its heroes in different roles. But the audience doesn’t tolerate when the hero takes them for granted and irritates them in the name of ‘trying out something new’.

Until now, Dileep managed to strike a chord with the audience with his ‘different’ roles in films like ‘Kunhikoonan’ and ‘Chaandupottu’. But, he has failed to connect with the audience in ‘Pacha Kudhira’ as Aakash Menon, the autistic brother of the do-gooder hero. the film reminds you a lot of the Dustin Hoffman- tom Cruise starrer ‘Rainman’, but it fails to evoke any feelings in you.

Dileep is Ananthakuttan, a supplier of junior artistes in films. He is a good man who tries to do good to others but ends up in trouble. Most of the scenes that are intended to make you laugh just don’t work. You end up wondering how many times you had already seen Dileep do those things in other films!

One day he is told that he has a younger brother, Aakash Menon, who lives in Germany.  He is also told that the younger brother is coming down to Kerala to live with him after the demise of their mother. Anantha Kuttn then finds out that the younger brother, Aakash Menon is autistic and that he has the mental maturity of a five-year-old boy.

Aakash Menon soon starts to make life a living hell for his elder brother (and the hapless audience). Anantha Kuttan decides to get rid of him by giving him away for adoption to a family in Germany. But, well, soon, sibling love takes over and he starts working hard to cancel the adoption.

Here are the major annoying flaws-

• The movie is extremely predictable. You know what exactly is going to go wrong with the elder brother Anantha Kuttan when he tries to do good things to others.

• The younger brother, Aakash Menon overacts and irritates.

• The story is so extremely predictable.

• Aakash Menon fails to evoke any sympathy. Neither does his elder brother.

• The heroine has nothing to do in the film.

• The music is disappointing too!!!

But, don’t be surprised if the film does well.

Cast- Dileep, Gopika, Salim Kumar and others
Director- Kamal
Music- Ilayaraaja

The Good

Nothing

The Bad

Well, lot of things…

The Ugly

Aakash Menon’s makeup. It looks scary!
