"I hate Chennai's traffic"- Bhavana

Bhavana
It took just one film for Bhavana to conquer the entire Tamil film industry- 'Chittiram Pesudadi'. She now has more than half a dozen films in hand including 'ECR', 'Koodal Nagar', 'Naan Kadavul' and 'Arya'.

Recently, she gave a press conference in Chennai. We have published excerpts from the conference-

"Tamil film industry is unlike Malayalam. There are so many magazines and TV channels here. Everybody wants to interview me. If I was going to oblige to all their requests, I will have to take a long leave of absence from the shooting simply to answer to their questions. That was why I invited everybody here so I can answer all your questions at the same time," the beautiful and radiant-looking Bhavana began.

  • We heard that you are not giving dates to films like 'Arya' and 'ECR' and that the films are getting delayed because of this…

The dates that I gave to 'Arya' had ended in 2005. The dates that I gave to 'ECR' too have ended. They didn't know how to complete the shooting in the given time. Now, I'm busy with other films. When I get breaks, I'll give my dates to these two films. I'm a big fan of my 'Arya' hero. I want the film to get released.

  • Is it true that you weren't able to go abroad for shooting because you didn't have a passport?

That's very funny. I have a passport. Even when I was working in Malayalam films, I have gone abroad for shooting and stage shows.

  • Tell us about your role in 'Naan Kadavul'. I'm playing the role of a blind girl. We had shot only one scene until now.

  • Do you star only in heroine-oriented films?

That's not so but I don't want to simply appear in two songs and four scenes. In most Tamil films, this is what the heroine does. As soon as the song sequences end, you'll have to actually search for her. I want to do roles that will get recognized and appreciated.

  • Will you act in a small role in a Rajini film? Bhavana

I would love to work with Rajinikanth but not in a walk-in-and-walk-out role.

  • Will you play sexy roles?

No. I want to do roles that I could watch with my entire family. When I see some actresses do sexy roles, I used to wonder why they want to humiliate themselves that way.

  • How do you feel about Chennai?

I love everything about the city except its traffic. It takes one hour to cover a distance that shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

  • Many actresses from Kerala complain that films are not shot the way they are told. They say that when the films get finally ready, their characters are not what the directors had promised them. Did you have such an experience?

No, I didn't have such a bad experience. Until now, only one film of mine had got released, 'Chittiram Pesudadi'. I'll know about this only when more films get released.
